Overview

SureTo is built by Creative Vision LLC. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. The core safety features — scanning, verdicts, allergen detection, recall alerts — are free and do not require an account.

Information We Collect

Device identifier. On first launch, the app generates an anonymous device ID — a random UUID with no connection to your name, email, or Apple account. Used to manage your subscription tier.

Email address (optional). If you link an email to restore Founders Circle access, we store it alongside your device ID.

Scan activity. We store scan counts associated with your device ID. We do not store which specific barcodes you scanned in identifiable form.

Camera access. Used only to scan barcodes and photograph ingredient labels. Camera images are processed entirely on your device and never uploaded.

Information We Do Not Collect

• Your name, address, or phone number

• Which specific products you scan
• Camera images or label photos
• Advertising identifiers or tracking data

How We Use Your Information

• To manage your subscription tier
• To restore your access on a new device
• To display your scan statistics in the app
• To send optional weekly digest notifications

Third-Party Services

When you scan a barcode, the app requests product data from Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, Open Beauty Facts, UPC Item DB, and openFDA. These requests include the barcode only — no personal information is sent.

Supabase stores device IDs and subscription tiers on AWS infrastructure compliant with GDPR and SOC 2 Type II. Payments are handled entirely by Apple — we never receive your payment details.

Children

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. We do not share identifiable scan history with advertisers or third parties for commercial purposes.

Children

SureTo is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us with information.

Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your device ID and associated data as long as you use the app. To request deletion, contact us at support@creativevision.app. We will remove your records within 30 days.

• Opt out of optional scan count tracking in app settings

Non-Affiliation

SureTo is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Open Food Facts, USDA, FDA, or any product manufacturer. Database content is sourced independently and used in accordance with applicable open data licenses.

Accuracy & Limitations

SureTo provides ingredient and safety information sourced from third-party databases including Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, and others. Transparency features use data from the Environmental Working Group (EWG) Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce, USDA Economic Research Service (ERS) crop adoption data, USDA Pesticide Data Program (PDP), and USDA National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard (NBFDS). Recall alerts use data from the FDA Food Enforcement database, FDA Drug Enforcement database, and USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) recall database. These databases are community-maintained and may contain incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate data.

Recall alerts are informational only and may not be complete or current. SureTo queries the FDA Food Enforcement database, FDA Drug Enforcement database, and USDA FSIS recall database in real time. However, recall information may be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable due to API limitations. A product showing no recall alert does not guarantee it is not subject to a recall. Always check FDA.gov and FSIS.usda.gov directly for the most current information. Creative Vision LLC is not responsible for any harm arising from reliance on recall alert information provided by the app.

Transparency features are informational estimates, not laboratory results. Bioengineered food source identification is based on USDA crop prevalence data and ingredient pattern matching — not direct product testing. Pesticide risk indicators are based on EWG Shopper's Guide annual reports and USDA Pesticide Data Program findings — not laboratory analysis of the specific product. Plant-based and plant protein detection is based on ingredient text analysis. These features are provided for general awareness only.

Ingredient label scanning (OCR) accuracy depends on image quality. Poor lighting, camera angle, motion blur, damaged labels, small print, reflective packaging, or partially obscured text may cause the app to misread, skip, or misidentify ingredients. OCR results should always be verified against the physical product label before making any dietary or health decision.

We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance. The date at the top of this page always reflects the latest version.
